Fly Tipping

Fly tipping is unlawfully leaving waste in a public area. It is a serious offence to fly tip. Offenders can be fined up to £20,000 or even sent to prison.

Reports of fly tipping should be made to your SLDC 0845 050 4434 or to the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.

What do I do if I see an incident?

Don't try and tackle the fly tipper yourself. If you do see someone fly tipping, then it is helpful if you can take note of:
When and where the fly tipping occurred,
Vehicle registration,
Description of the vehicle - colour, make and model. Is there anything special about it? Does it have a logo or contact numbers?
What sort of rubbish is being dumped?
Contact your local district council.
Contact the Environment Agency (this link will open in a separate window).

If contacting the above agencies also ensure that details are given to the clerk in order to update the charts we use to monitor CCC repair of the highways and SLDC removal of fly tipping.
